Meet Our Lead Pastors

Ed & Christy Ivie

Ed Ivie and Christy Ivie are the Lead Pastors of Ocean Church, a multi-site family of churches with campuses in Naples, Estero, and Cape Coral. He is a visionary leader who is passionate about equipping the church to do the work of the ministry by encouraging each person to fulfill their God-given purpose and design. His ability to connect and relate cross-generationally allows him to draw a beautifully diverse congregation where spiritual needs are met through life-applicable teaching and preaching.

With over 30 years of full-time ministry experience, Pastor Ed shares the love of Jesus with thousands of people locally and around the world. His love for the local church compelled him to start a nonprofit organization called Streamline Leadership Network, where he helps revitalize declining and plateauing churches by helping them rediscover their biblical mission and mandate.

He and his wife Christy have been married for over 30 years. Christy was instrumental in developing Ocean Church’s ministries such as Guest Experience, Next Steps, First Time Guests, Small Groups, and currently leads Ocean Academy and serves as a Ministry Development Coach helping staff pastors break through growth barriers. She also founded and leads a nonprofit organization called Christy’s Cause (christyscause.com), which works to eradicate child sex trafficking and exploitation through education, awareness, restoration projects, and justice initiatives.

Ed and Christy have two grown children, Bryce and Brooke. They are also pop-pop and mimi to Ella, Revie, Ryker, and their first-born grandson, Dray, who was the first in their family to have the opportunity to meet Jesus in heaven. They love spending time with each other, their family, and serving their community.

Heart Behind Ocean Church

At the beginning of 2019 I started a sermon series called Deeper.  The heart of the series was based on what I was feeling from the Lord.  I sensed that He was wanting to take our church community to a greater depth, calling and commitment. I did not realize early in the year that it would lead to where we are now.  As I began to dig deeper into the Word of God, the Bible, I began to feel a holy discontent with where we were as a church community. I knew there was so much more that God was wanting to do. This hunger for more turned into a greater desire to fully embrace the mission that Jesus gave us according to scripture.

What’s the mission?

“To Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples and Reach the Lost.”

(Matthew 22:36-40—The Great Commandment; Matthew 28:19-20—The Great Commission.)

In the midst of the journey as I was in my prayer and devotional time with the Lord, I read Haggai 2:9 where the Lord spoke, “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”  As soon as I read those words I heard God speak and say, “Ed, Living Waters (former church name) is where you have been, not where you are going.” I knew at that moment there was something significant that was taking place. I began sharing with our elders, pastors and leaders what God was doing and what I heard Him saying. Over the following months the Lord continued to speak, encourage and challenge us and quite unexpectedly, Ocean Church was conceived in our hearts. Throughout scripture there are numerous instances where God changed someone’s name as a result of the internal change that He brought. God gave us our name, OCEAN CHURCH. It is the expression of the heart-change God has done in us. We have a passionate desire to be a church that goes DEEPER AND WIDER.

As we move into this new missional paradigm, I want to invite you on the journey.  It is a journey that we are called to go on together. It is a journey to dig deeper into His word.  It is a journey to dive head first into His presence. It is a journey of embracing the mission to “Love God, Love Others, make Disciples and Reach the Lost.”
